Research Groups and Expertise

The scholars and professionals at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Ljubljana have expertise and research achievements in all areas of theological and religious studies, with an emphasis on ethics, educational sciences and psychotherapy.

Journals

The Faculty of Theology publishes several academic journals that provide high-quality contributions in the field of theology:

  • Bogoslovni vestnik (Theological Quarterly) is a journal published by members of the Faculty of Theology at the University of Ljubljana. The journal has been published since 1920. Its predecessor was the scholarly journal “Voditelj v bogoslovnih vedah (Guide to Theological Sciences)”, published between 1898 and 1916. The journal appears four times a year. “Bogoslovni vestnik” is entered as number 565 in the media registry, which is regulated by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia. The journal publishes academic articles and reviews in the field of theology and other related disciplines. The articles are mainly in Slovenian, but can also be published in Latin, English, French, German, and Italian.
  • Edinost in dialog (Unity and Dialogue) is a scientific journal of the Stanko Janežič Institute of Dogmatic, Fundamental and Ecumenical Theology and Dialogue at the Faculty of Theology of University of Ljubljana with recension. The journal has been published since 1924. The journal is a new series of the journals “Kraljestvo božje” and “V edinosti. Unity and Dialogue”. It publishes original and reviewed scientific articles and contributions in the field of ecumenism and inter-religious dialogue related to world religions, with an emphasis on Christian religions, Judaism, and Islam.   • The periodical Acta Ecclesiastica Sloveniae (AES) is published by the Institute of Church History University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Theology. Its primary goal is to make available unpublished documents related to the history of the Church in Slovenia. Documents are published in their original languages, a study in Slovenian and a summary in foreign languages are added. The periodical “Acta Ecclesiastica Sloveniae” has been published since 1979.
