Last year we visited Volos Academy for Theological Studies for an internal workshop. We spoke with Dr. Nikolaos Asproulis, deputy director of the Academy, about the situation for researchers in Religious Studies in the Greek context, and how RESILIENCE could open up opportunities for them.
In the video interview, Nikolaos Asproulis describes the context of the Greek society, which is mainly characterized by Orthodox Christianity. In general there is the opportunity to do research in Orthodox theology, but not in a wider perspective. According to Nikolaos Asproulis, RESILIENCE is needed to give the opportunity to open research to the wider study of religion. Since 2015 Greece received immigrants from the Middle East, among which many Muslims. Nikolaos Asproulis: “We need to open our hearts and our minds to the people and give them the opportunity to serve Religious Studies through RESILIENCE.”
In his opinion, RESILIENCE can help researchers in the Greek context, like offering a digital platform and making new digital and physical tools accessible and granting TNA (Transnational Access) Fellowships, giving researchers a more flexible mobility.
