December 7, the European Strategy Form on Research Infrastructures ESFRI will launch its Roadmap 2021, whereby RESILIENCE may present itself along with 10 other European infrastructures.
For nearly a decade, various other European institutions, led by Fscire in Bologna, have been working to lay the groundwork for a European infrastructure for Religious Studies. Through various steps, this led to the H2020 funded project RESILIENCE, which is now included in the ESFRI Roadmap 2021.
The launch of the ESFRI Roadmap 2021 December 7 marks a milestone in the history of the RESILIENCE infrastructure, because it is a proof of its maturity and because it will guarantee its sustainability in the long run.
RESILIENCE is convinced that the study of religion demands a specific approach that should be honored and cultivated, including the protection of philology, of the knowledge of different languages, of the critical work on narrow topics and specific issues, the ability of interpreting religious texts in their context, their reception and their effects on history and on the social and cultural developments in Europe. All this in the opinion of RESILIENCE explains the need for a specific Research Infrastructure for Religious Studies in the European Research landscape, aiming to serve researchers and other interested in religion.
RESILIENCE is proud to be among “the most outstanding European science facilities”, as ESFRI says, and to be able to continue developing the research infrastructure. Currently it is working on the design for the Preparatory Phase (2022-2025), which should be ready by January 20, 2022.
The launch of the ESFRI Roadmap tomorrow can be followed online via the ESFRI YouTube channel. As mentioned in the agenda, The RESILIENCE presentation is scheduled around 15.40 h.
